Fred Warner blew away the 49ers during his pre-draft visit, says Adam Peters

Linebacker Fred Warner was a pleasant surprise for San Francisco 49ers fans coming out of the 2018 draft. He immediately showed flashes of what he could be during his rookie campaign, leading the defense in tackles not only then but in each of his three NFL seasons. After spending some time with Warner, the 49ers immediately knew that he might be someone special. They were already impressed with his on-field play at BYU. What sealed the deal in their minds was getting to know the person. Once again, there won't be pre-draft visits this year. As was the case last year, all interviews will be conducted virtually over Zoom or FaceTime. It's unfortunate because those 30 allotted visits can be a great tool in evaluating an incoming rookie. Of course, given the current

Football Outsiders calls Vikings' Kirk Cousins a 'healthier version' of 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo

In a feature for ESPN, Football Outsiders suggested a non-Deshaun Watson bold move for each NFL team. Before continuing, it is important to note that they admit some of the suggestions are far-fetched but believe that each would improve the teams' chances of winning. The suggestion for the San Francisco 49ers is to trade for Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. I'll pause for the collective groan from readers. This isn't really about the trade itself, though, but the reason behind the suggestion and why Cousins' name keeps coming up for the 49ers when the Vikings — nor Cousins — have given any indication

ESPN's Smith and Kellerman have different QB predictions for the 49ers

Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman of ESPN's First Take have different predictions on who will start at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers during the upcoming season. Kellerman often defends Jimmy Garoppolo against Smith's criticisms, so you might naturally assume that Kellerman would predict that San Francisco would avoid shaking things up. You might also assume that the critical Smith predicts that the 49ers move on from Garoppolo. The opposite is true. Smith envisions San Francisco sticking with Garoppolo while Kellerman has another quarterback in mind to lead head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense. "Me personally, I think it's going to be Jimmy G (as the 49ers' starter)," Smith declared. "That's what I believe. I believe that everybody's been

Alex Smith reflects on his 49ers days with Colin Kaepernick, addresses his NFL future

It's been the better part of a decade since Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick were part of the same quarterback room with the San Francisco 49ers, but Smith still sounds as impressed as ever with what he experienced on and off the field when the two of them were teammates. Smith spoke for almost an hour this week on Kaepernick and a number of other subjects during a guest spot on the 10 Questions With Kyle Brandt Podcast (click here to listen). Smith, who was the starting quarterback for the 49ers when Kaepernick was selected in Round 2 of the 2011 NFL Draft, told Brandt he remembered Kaepernick as a "great dude" who brought an impressive work ethic to the NFL right out of the gate. "We were doing workouts
