49ers showing interest in QB JT O’Sullivan and LB Dontarrious Thomas?

According to Matt Barrows' podcast interview, the 49ers may be showing some interest in quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan and linebacker Dontarrious Thomas.

O'Sullivan, originally drafted by the Saints, has also been on the Packers, Vikings, Patriots and Panthers. He spent last season with the Lions, Mike Martz's old team. Last season, he completed 13 of 26 attempts for 148 yards, one touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Thomas has spent four seasons with the Vikings. He has 143 tackles and 1.5 sacks during those four seasons.

Nick Bosa was one of several ("several" may be an understatement) San Francisco 49ers who suffered injuries last season. The young pass rusher's injury was season-ending. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 2. Bosa appears to be recovering nicely. On Thursday, he posted a new workout video on social media, which was captured and shared by our friends over at @OurSF49ers_. The video shows Bosa running with a weight sled tied to his waist, and he doesn't appear to be hampered by his left knee injury. 49ers expressed interest in Giovani Bernard before RB signed with Bucs

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the San Francisco 49ers were among the teams to express interest in Giovani Bernard after his release by the Cincinnati Bengals on April 1. The veteran running back is reportedly signing a one-year deal with the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. RB Gio Bernard had early interest from the Jaguars and 49ers but held out for Bucs, who came through with a one-year deal, as @TomPelissero said. Tampa now has impressive backfield with Bernard, Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones.— Jeremy Fowler

Justin Fields of Ohio State will hold a second pro day workout on Wednesday. Five days later, Trey Lance of North Dakota State will take part in his second. Both are trying to ensure that they are selected ahead of Mac Jones of Alabama. Trevor Lawrence of Clemson is expected to be drafted No. 1 overall. The New York Jets are expected to select Zach Wilson of BYU at No. 2. Assuming San Francisco targets a quarterback, that leaves Jones, Fields, and Lance as San Francisco's choices at No. 3. Jones is the overwhelming favorite to be the pick if you ask members of the national media. Fans would much prefer the more athletic and higher ceilinged prospects in Fields or Lance.
