49ers showing interest in QB JT O’Sullivan and LB Dontarrious Thomas?

According to Matt Barrows' podcast interview, the 49ers may be showing some interest in quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan and linebacker Dontarrious Thomas.

O'Sullivan, originally drafted by the Saints, has also been on the Packers, Vikings, Patriots and Panthers. He spent last season with the Lions, Mike Martz's old team. Last season, he completed 13 of 26 attempts for 148 yards, one touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Thomas has spent four seasons with the Vikings. He has 143 tackles and 1.5 sacks during those four seasons.

Fred Warner trusts Shanahan and Lynch's vision for the 49ers, feels 2020 is the last losing season

There is so much uncertainty for the San Francisco 49ers as they embark into the 2021 offseason. Nearly 40 players are scheduled to become free agents, and the team is pressed up against a salary cap that is expected to drop from $198.2 million to a number that could be as low as $175 million. General manager John Lynch said this week that the 49ers are operating under the assumption that they will have $175 million to work with this year. Anything more would be a bonus. That means some tough decisions may be on the horizon, and the roster could look very different next season. Fred Warner, who will need a contract extension himself fairly soon, isn't too worried about the 49ers' future. After all, 2020's downfall had more to do with injuries than anything else.

49ers sign TE Chase Harrell and DB Jared Mayden to futures contracts, waive LS Colin Holba

The San Francisco 49ers announced a few minor roster moves on Wednesday. The team has signed tight end Chase Harrell and defensive back Jared Mayden to reserve/futures contracts. Both players finished the 2020 season on the 49ers' practice squad. San Francisco has also waived long snapper Colin Holba.
