Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is preparing for a familiar opponent this week. Just two NFL weeks removed from facing the undefeated San Francisco 49ers, Kingsbury will face a Niners team coming off its first loss of the season — a disappointing overtime defeat against the Seattle Seahawks.

During their first meeting of the season, both teams were coming off a short week of preparation because of the Thursday-night game. Kingsbury, who jumped on a conference call with Bay Area reporters on Wednesday, expects to get the 49ers' best shot on Sunday.

"You know the type of team they're going to be," Kingsbury said. "They're going to be well-coached in all three phases. They're going to play hard. They've got a lot of juice, a lot of swagger this season, so you've got to expect their best shot.

"They have a little shorter week but I know they have a great plan to get those guys [recuperated], and after a tough loss, we'll definitely get their best shot at home."

During their Week 9 meeting, the 49ers edged the Cardinals 28-25 at State Farm Stadium on Halloween night. The two teams meet at Levi's Stadium on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 1:05 p.m. PT.

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers have been striving to solidify their defensive backfield for years. They would love to find someone to fortify the outside cornerback spot opposite Charvarius Ward, allowing Deommodore Lenoir to play in the slot. While the team holds high hopes for newly signed cornerback Isaac Yiadom, believing he is the frontrunner for the job, the ultimate solution might come in the draft later this month. In a segment for NFL Network's "Path to the Draft," analyst Daniel Jeremiah was asked for the best team fit for former Alabama cornerback

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic has released his first round mock draft, complete with insights from opposing college coaches about every prospect. Like many mock drafts, Feldman's has the Niners addressing the O-Line in the first round. Feldman thinks the Niners will select Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims with the No. 31 overall pick. Mims, a 6-foot-8, 340-pound junior, is a popular pick for the Niners in mock drafts,

Six worst first-round draft picks in 49ers' history

By Marc Adams
Apr 13

It is less than two weeks away from the 2024 NFL Draft, and the San Francisco 49ers finally have a first-round draft pick, after not having one the last two years. Who will they select? Will it be a defensive player? An offensive player? They could use help on the offensive line and in the secondary and defensive line. And they may also have multiple holes to fill a year from now. Either way, the 49ers need to hit on these draft picks, especially in the early rounds, where they haven't always been at their best. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have some first-round misses, like DT Solomon Thomas and LB Rueben Foster. But are those the worst first-round picks in team history? Neither made this list, though some will argue that Thomas should be on it, mainly because he was taken
