Matt Breida and his San Francisco 49ers are 5-0 headed into a Week 7 matchup against the Washington Redskins. The NFL's Next Gen Stats recently tracked the running back as the fastest ball carrier over the last two seasons.
Breida joined NFL Total Access on Tuesday night and was asked if that's a title he hopes to hold onto for the remainder of the season.
"Most definitely," Breida responded. "Having that title is awesome. It allows me to tell the rest of the running backs in the room who's the fastest. So we aren't going to have a debate or argue about that."
Breida goes on to discuss not being invited to the NFL Scouting Combine and not being drafted, the chip on his shoulder, what motivates him to work so hard every day, being part of one of just two remaining undefeated teams, and the 49ers' dominant defensive line.
Breida was also asked how he feels the 49ers would match up head-to-head against the New England Patriots, that other unbeaten squad.
"I feel like I like our chances," Breida said. "We have a great team, great special teams, offense, defense, and everyone's playing at high energy right now. So we'll just have to wait and see."
