Browns DE Olivier Vernon fined $10,527 for smacking 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo

Cleveland Browns defensive end Olivier Vernon has been fined $10,527 for smacking San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo last Monday night.

The incident occurred during the first half of the 49ers' 31-3 win over the Browns. San Francisco ran a double reverse, which is shown below. Keep an eye on Garoppolo. If you blink, you may miss it. Vernon clearly takes a swing and hits Garoppolo in the head, a decision that did not draw a flag but hit the defender in his bank account five days later.

Browns defensive tackle Devaroe Lawrence was also fined $10,527 for a facemask penalty.

San Francisco 49ers rookie defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw is looking to be a game-wrecker during his pro career. He is looking forward to frustrating opposing offensive linemen, making running backs feel like they are hitting a brick wall, and making quarterbacks run for their lives. Kinlaw joined Training Camp Rewind this week, and team reporter Keiana Martin asked the rookie defender which quarterback he is most looking forward to sacking. His answer might surprise you. "Jimmy, honestly," Kinlaw responded. "My own quarterback." Now, Kinlaw isn't going to be sacking Jimmy Garoppolo any time soon. They are teammates, after all. So why did Kinlaw name his own team's

The San Francisco 49ers on Friday restructured pass rusher Dee Ford's contract, creating an additional $9.5 million in salary-cap space. General manager John Lynch made it clear that the move doesn't indicate that a big signing is on the horizon and that the 49ers roster is "pretty much set." Instead, it was a housekeeping move to potentially create more wiggle room with next year's cap, which is expected to decrease due to the impact of COVID-19. "In terms of how long he's going to be here and what we're paying him, it's all the same," Lynch told reporters during a conference call on Sunday. The move with Ford led some to wonder why

'I trust Russell Wilson over Jimmy Garoppolo': Peter King picks Seahawks over 49ers in NFC West

By David Bonilla

Peter Schrager of Good Morning Football recently called the San Francisco 49ers one of the most disrespected conference champions in recent memory. With the regular season less than a week away, the disrespect seemingly continues. Not only is Peter King of NBC Sports not picking San Francisco to win the NFC, but he doesn't even envision the team winning its division. King has the 49ers earning the No. 5 seed in the conference and the Seattle Seahawks winning the NFC West. The reason? Quarterbacks. "San Francisco, up by two scores with eight minutes left in the Super Bowl and with so many key guys returning, is a
