First, I would like to note that I do not dislike NFL Network analyst Adam Rank. I actually find him somewhat amusing. Whether he predicts the San Francisco 49ers to go 3-13 or 13-3 makes no difference to me. The games still need to be played.

Still, I am well aware the Niner Faithful remain emotionally invested in his record prediction for the Bay Area team.

Rank joined Mark Willard on KNBR Wednesday night and admitted that maybe, just maybe, he was wrong about his projection for the 49ers. San Francisco sits at 3-0 right now, which means the team would need to lose every remaining game this season to hit Rank's mark.

Rank isn't quite ready to officially admit defeat, noting that the 49ers are on a bye week and won't play again until Monday, October 7 when they host the Cleveland Browns at Levi's Stadium. So he has at least another week before the 49ers surpass his win prediction.

At the same time, Rank knows he is on the cusp of being proven wrong.

"I've seen it enough times to know that right at the last second, the hero can still win and save the day, so I'm still hopeful," Rank jokingly said. "Actually, I don't want to say that I'm hopeful because I'm not rooting against the 49ers by any stretch of the imagination. I'm definitely not rooting against them."

Added Rank: "What are you going to do? [The 49ers are] winning. You're looking good. It's 3-0, and I know that last week, they had a little bit of a scare with the Mason Rudolph-led Steelers, but that's what good teams do."

Rank said he is ready to admit he is wrong when the time comes — assuming that time comes.

"It's not looking good for me," Rank continued. "You've got to do what you'd got to do, and have fun. Yes, I'm an idiot. So just have fun with it. Just keep tagging me in the photos. Just keep it clean. My family reads that stuff, so don't get too personal, but you can call me an idiot. It's fine."

You can listen to the entire interview with Rank below.

H/t to Matthew Barr for the find.
