Jimmie Ward says Jason Verrett looks focused, ready, and anxious to prove himself

The San Francisco 49ers admittedly gambled on signing Jason Verrett last offseason. Why would it be a gamble to add a Pro Bowl cornerback to your defense? After being a first-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2014, Verrett had just one healthy season — that 2015 Pro Bowl year. He has landed on injured reserve in each of his other five NFL seasons, including last season with the 49ers. Verrett nearly made it back in 2019. He made one game appearance, taking part in just four defensive snaps before being sidelined for the remainder of the season. Safety Jimmie Ward knows what it's like to be plagued by injuries. He landed on injured reserve four times before last year's breakout performance in a season during which he managed to remain relatively healthy.

'Bad mo-fo' Raheem Mostert discusses 49ers' mindset, confidence that they can win Super Bowl

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert, armed with a reworked contract, is ready to take on the 2020 season. And yes, he will be playing, in case there was any doubt. Mostert confirmed during a video conference call today that he will not opt-out of the upcoming season as the NFL prepares to play amid a pandemic. Mostert has a lot to prove, after all, and he feels he and his teammates have the right mindset to respond to February's Super Bowl defeat. "I just want to go out there and be dominant," Mostert told reporters. "When I step out onto that field, I want everybody to say, 'That's a bad mo-fo. Here's somebody that we can't take lightly.'
