San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh spoke with reporters after Wednesday's practice and was asked about Kwon Alexander. The team's new linebacker is rehabbing from an ACL injury that he suffered during Week 7 of the 2018 season while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Saleh was asked about the timetable for Alexander's return, and the defensive coordinator believes training camp might be a possibility.

"My understanding is training camp," Saleh said. "But that probably would be a question for Kyle (Shanahan) and John (Lynch)."

Keep in mind that Alexander suffered his injury four weeks after quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's and seven weeks after running back Jerick McKinnon's. The hope is that Garoppolo can be medically cleared to be a full participant in training camp and McKinnon will likely be worked in around that time too. With McKinnon, though, the 49ers might be more cautious given the nature of playing running back, which involves more contact and on-field cuts during runs.

Alexander being ready for training camp, or any time before the start of the regular season, can certainly be viewed as good news on his recovery. San Francisco's decision-makers believed in him so much that they signed him in March to a four-year deal worth up to $54 million.

Alexander recorded 45 combined tackles, a sack, two passes defensed, and two forced fumbles through six games last year before suffering his season-ending injury.

Brock Purdy hopes to organize throwing session ahead of 49ers training camp

By David Bonilla
Apr 16

The San Francisco 49ers will hold a mandatory minicamp from June 4 through 6, officially concluding the team's offseason program. After that, the Niners will break for over a month and return to the Santa Clara facilities for training camp in late July. Between that time, starting quarterbacks will often organize throwing sessions with their receivers in an effort to build chemistry ahead of the rigors of training camp. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been unable to participate in such sessions over the last two years. The last overall draft pick in 2022, Purdy had yet to make a name for himself during his first offseason. Last year, he was still recovering from offseason surgery on his throwing arm. RELATED:

If the San Francisco 49ers decide to trade wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, it's likely to occur within the next four days—before or during Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite some unconfirmed rumors, there has been no concrete indication that a trade is imminent. Previously, the 49ers had expressed a desire to retain Aiyuk for the foreseeable future. Aiyuk's agent, Ryan Williams, has swiftly refuted rumors, including one alleging that the receiver had requested a trade, claiming that the Pittsburgh Steelers were "aggressively pursuing" the receiver. Brandon Aiyuk has been clear about his desire to receive fair compensation from the San Francisco 49ers—or any NFL team, for that matter. "I'm trying to get what I deserve," Aiyuk said last month on a podcast. "I feel like this season, this season playing football, I figured out who I was as a person and a player — what I bring to the table, what I bring to the locker room, what I bring to the organization." General manager John Lynch affirms that the 49ers aim to keep Aiyuk around, enduring he remains with the team for the remainder of his career. However, a recent report states there's

Insiders identify late risers who 49ers could target in NFL Draft

By David Bonilla
Apr 19

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, ESPN contributors have highlighted some prospects who have seen their draft stock rise throughout the evaluation process. Jordan Reid and Matt Miller pinpointed players who could hear their names called at the end of the first round. Interestingly, both of the prospects identified by Reid and Miller play in the trenches but on different sides of the ball. The San Francisco 49ers are widely expected to draft an offensive lineman with their first selection—No. 31 overall. The team mostly ignored the group in free agency. However, it wouldn't surprise many people if the
