The San Francisco 49ers kicked off the second phase of their offseason program on Monday. It follows the first phase, which included two weeks of strength and conditioning work.
The coaches can finally join their players for on-field activities. That includes individual work and walk-throughs, but no contact, one-on-one matches, or even helmets are allowed.
This second phase of the offseason program, which includes an upcoming rookie minicamp, will span the next three weeks before the 49ers kick off organized team activities on May 20. That next phase will finally pit the offense against the defense in non-contact drills during three practices a week.
The offseason program will conclude with a three-day mandatory minicamp from June 11-13. After that, 49ers players will enjoy some time off before reporting to training camp in late-July.
