The San Francisco 49ers were among the teams to meet with running back Marquis Young at UMass' pro day, according to Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst.

"Running back Marquis Young, who participated in the Shrine Game, completed 20 reps on the bench, touched 36.5 inches in the vertical jump and 10-feet-4 in the broad," writes Pauline. "His 40 times ranged from 4.49 seconds to 4.55 seconds."

The 6-foot-1 running back rushed for 778-or-more yards in each of his four collegiate seasons. He combined for 1,760 rushing yards on 336 carries (5.2-yard average) with 18 rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons while adding two more receiving touchdowns in 2017.

Pauline reports that the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Kansas City Chiefs also met with Young.

Is a San Francisco 49ers quarterback controversy brewing? That depends on who you ask. Many have discussed the possibility this week because it's a hot topic considering the Chicago Bears' upset win over the Niners in Week 1. The far-more-talented 49ers should be 1-0 right now, but they aren't. Trey Lance, being the starting quarterback now, will have to shoulder much of the blame whether that is fair or not (it's not, by the way). Meanwhile, Jimmy Garoppolo, who most expected to be traded or released this offseason, remains on the roster. He watched from the sidelines as his one-time protégé dealt with the rainy elements in his third career NFL start. Lance struggled. That much cannot be denied. His inexperience showed. There's been no shortage of individuals within the San Francisco 49ers organization that have come to Kyle Shanahan's defense this week. A very vocal segment of the fanbase and media has criticized the head coach's use of Trey Lance. The quarterback suffered a season-ending ankle injury during the first quarter of Sunday's win against the Seattle Seahawks. One respected analyst, a Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback and 49ers icon, believes the idea that Shanahan is to blame for Lance's injury is laughable. "Look, it's football, and running quarterbacks out of the huddle is dangerous," Steve Young told KNBR's Tom Tolbert and Adam Copeland on Thursday. "You remember last year when Trey played—I think it was against the Cardinals—I think [Shanahan]

Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. Opening Comments: "Alright guys, the injuries from the game. [RB] Elijah Mitchell, MCL sprain, not going to need surgery, but it's going to be some time. He'll end up going on IR here. [DL] Javon Kinlaw had the ankle sprain, but we're not expecting that to bother him, he should be alright. Nothing else from the game." Do you know when Elijah hurt his knee in the game? "Yeah, he did it near the red zone. I think he had a-- I

With the San Francisco 49ers' home opener against the Seattle Seahawks right around the corner, I had the chance to check out the 49ers' concession showcase in partnership with Levy. It's always a great opportunity to check out new food selections and local vendors being added into the mix for this upcoming season. Executive Chef "Kitchen QB" Jon Severson was on hand to showcase the menu with a colorful red-and-gold display featuring foods from both general concessions and concession partners. Prior to partnering with Levi's Stadium, Severson brings nearly 20 years of experience working with NFL, NBA, and
