The San Francisco 49ers met with Florida pass rusher Jachai Polite at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. The draft prospect walked away a bit confused by the meeting, according to Tampa Bay Buccaneers reporter Trevor Sikkema of Pewter Report.

Polite reportedly said the team's representatives didn't even talk much football with him.

"They just bashed me the whole time," Polite said of his sit-down with the 49ers.

Polite later acknowledged that teams' line of questioning was probably an effort to test his character and see how the defensive player reacted.

"They are about to invest millions probably, I hope," he added. "So I have to take it. It's my job. This is my job."

The 49ers are in the hunt for a pass rusher and Polite recorded 11 sacks to go along with his 45 combined tackles and 19.5 tackles for a loss as a junior in 2018.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who compares Polite to Vic Beasley, wrote the following about Polite within his scouting report:

"Instinctive rusher with natural feel for attacking the pocket and the explosive athletic ability to finish the job. Polite's frightening speed to the edge is the foundation for his pass-rush success, but it's the potential diversity and fluidity of his attack that makes him such a compelling prospect. He has been heavier in his career and might need to add good weight in order to remove himself from the DPR (designated pass rusher) list and into a full-time role as a 3-4 outside backer. Scouts say beware of his floor, but his electrifying rush potential could be hard to pass up in today's pass-happy league."

Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team revealed his latest mock draft, which goes seven rounds deep and projects every selection for every NFL team. While most predict that the San Francisco 49ers will add an offensive lineman with their first selection, No. 31 overall, Mosher has the Bay Area team going in a different direction. The writer and analyst has the Niners selecting former UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu in the first round. "It wouldn't be a shock to see Laiatu Latu fall in the draft due to his medical history, but he is too good of a value to pass up here at No. 31," Mosher wrote. "The San Francisco 49ers have been searching for the right pass
