San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Pierre Garçon has already been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team could also be without its other starting wideout, Marquise Goodwin, who was not listed on Friday's official injury report but was downgraded to doubtful, the team announced Saturday.
The two account for 52 percent of the 49ers' wide receiver production this season.
Goodwin participated in practices this week after being excused from Monday's bonus session. He traveled to Tampa, Florida with his teammates on Friday but returned to the Bay Area to address a personal matter, according to NBC Sports Bay Area, with his status for Sunday coming into question.
Goodwin is the 49ers' leading wide receiver with 17 receptions for 339 yards and four touchdowns. He ranks second on the team to tight end George Kittle, who has 50 catches for 775 yards with three touchdowns.
Garçon has the second-most receiving yards among the wideouts with 24 receptions for 286 yards and a touchdown. He has been bothered by a knee injury sustained during the 49ers' October 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals but was expected to be healthy following the team's bye week.
"He had some bad swelling (in his knee) for a while," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Friday. "The swelling went down. So once we thought the swelling went down, he'd be good to go. So did he, especially since he went against Oakland. And then after that, the swelling has been down, but the pain has been a lot worse.
"I thought there was a chance (he would play) this week. I know he's trying. I know he's frustrated with it, but there's still pain there, so we're going to hope another week and see where he's at next week."
