The San Francisco 49ers announced two roster moves on Thursday. The first was the promotion of cornerback Greg Mabin from the practice squad to the active roster. The second was the signing of cornerback Tarvarus McFadden to the practice squad.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Mabin as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa on May 1, 2017. He spent time with the Buffalo Bills before being signed to the 49ers practice squad on October 18, 2017.
The 49ers promoted Mabin to the active roster on November 1, 2017. He appeared in six games this season with one start and recorded 10 tackles and a forced fumble. San Francisco waived Mabin on October 30 and then signed him to the practice squad on November 1.
The 49ers initially signed McFadden as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State on May 1, and he remained on the roster until September 1. The Indianapolis Colts signed McFadden to their practice squad on September 11 and then waived him 14 days later.
McFadden was part of a team workout on Wednesday that included 13 other players.
