The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 8 contest against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Thursday injury notes:

  • RB Matt Breida missed his second practice of the week with just one remaining.
  • WR Pierre Garçon missed his second practice of the week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Wednesday that Garçon would likely be listed as doubtful against the Cardinals.
  • DL Solomon Thomas is a new addition to the injury report. He practiced on Wednesday but sat out Thursday's session.
  • C Weston Richburg, who has been dealing with a knee injury since Week 4, did not practice.

CB Richard Sherman did not practice on Thursday after being limited a day earlier.

"I'm pretty sure I'm playing this week," Sherman told reporters before practice.

He said, however, that it might come down to a game-day decision depending on how he feels when he tries to run on Sunday morning. Sherman has been dealing with a calf injury since Week 3.

"It has its good days, bad days, but it's feeling alright right now," he said.

Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Cardinals, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

If the 49ers draft a wide receiver, don't expect it to be a smaller guy

By Marc Adams

The San Francisco 49ers are in good shape for 2024 when it comes to the wide receiver position. What that room looks like after this coming season remains to be seen. As it was reported on Friday, Aiyuk unfollowed the 49ers on Instagram, much like Deebo Samuel did two years ago. It seems to be how modern-day players negotiate. It's not necessarily anything to be concerned about, but you never truly know how these things will end. There is still potential that the 49ers could trade the star receiver in the next couple of weeks. If Aiyuk is extended, it

On Wednesday, Chat Sports contributor Chase Senior reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers were "aggressively pursuing" San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He further stated that the Steelers are confident they can finalize a deal for the star player. REPORTS: The Pittsburgh Steelers are aggressively pursuing a Brandon Aiyuk trade and the Steelers would be "surprised" if they don't land Aiyuk. Of note: Pittsburgh has the 20th overall pick.
