49ers QB Brock Purdy downplays his "perfect" game: 'I don't even really know what it means'

By Kirk Larrabee
Nov 19

Brock Purdy made history in the 49ers' 27-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, even though he may not completely understand what he did. While throwing for 333 yards on 21-of-25 passing with three touchdowns and zero interceptions, Purdy achieved a perfect passer rating of 158.3 against the Buccaneers, becoming just the 66th player in NFL history to do so. There are now 80 total games in NFL history where a quarterback has achieved a perfect passer rating and only three in the history of the 49ers -- Purdy's game on Sunday, Steve Young against the Patriots on October 22, 1989 (11-of-12, 188 yards, three touchdowns) and Joe Montana against the

Resurgent pass rush, Charvarius Ward lead 49ers defense to dominant showing vs. Seahawks

By Kirk Larrabee
Nov 23

After going through a dry spell in late October, it's safe to say the San Francisco 49ers have righted the ship on defense. The 49ers went through a brief slump of sorts on defense towards the end of October when they gave up big passing performances to quarterbacks Kirk Cousins (378 yards, two touchdowns) in a Week 7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and Joe Burrow (283 yards, two touchdowns) in a Week 8 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Then, after a bye week in early November, the defense surged to give up just two touchdowns over a three-game span that has seen the 49ers notch one-sided victories over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks. The latest win came on Thanksgiving night, when the 49ers held the Seahawks to zero first quarter

By David Bonilla
Nov 20

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 12 contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. Although the team did not practice on Monday, NFL rules mandate the release of a practice participation report ahead of a Thursday night game. The 49ers are obligated to estimate the level of participation players would have had if an actual practice had occurred. Safety Talanoa Hufanga suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will miss the remainder of the season. While guard Aaron Banks has missed the last two games, head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed optimism that the offensive lineman might be able to play against the Seahawks. Guard Spencer Burford also would not have
