San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan jumped on KNBR Friday morning and provided a few injury updates as the team prepares for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

First up was wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who has been listed with a quad injury since exiting the 49ers' Week 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

"Right now, I think that's going to be a game-time decision," Shanahan said. "We'll see how he's out today on the field. I haven't seen him this morning, yet. I know he'll try to go some here this afternoon. Then we'll get on the plane, we'll fly out to Kansas City as soon as practice is over, do a little bit of walkthrough on Saturday, and we'll talk to him, (and see) how he's feeling.

"But I expect us to have to work him out before the game because you're right, that quad thing is a thing that lingers. It's tough to break down on it, especially as a receiver, to make cuts. He's not there yet. Hopefully, he'll be there by Sunday, but that will be a 50/50 situation."

Cornerback Richard Sherman (heel) was a surprise addition to Thursday's injury report while Ahkello Witherspoon (ankle) has been limited during practices this week.

"I believe those guys will practice today," Shanahan said. "I haven't seen them yet today but Ahkello, he's been practicing all week. He did last week too. He hasn't been 100 percent. We talked about that last week. Hopefully, he'll be 100 percent by game day.

"Sherm, I expect him to be out there. He didn't practice yesterday. He's had some wear and tear on his heel and everything like that that he's been through. We're taking it smart with him.

"They'll be ready to go on Sunday. They'll be up to a big challenge because, like I said, how fast [the Chiefs] can run and how good their players are. But our guys will be ready to go, and I think we'll get after them on Sunday."
