The San Francisco 49ers kicked off their second week of organized team activities (OTAs) on Tuesday. As they were allowed for one practice last week, Wednesday's session was open to the media. Only one more practice during OTAs (June 5) will be open to the media.
Below are some notes, videos, and more from the team's Wednesday afternoon practice.
Reuben Foster
Star linebacker Reuben Foster returned to the 49ers last Thursday after an offseason filled with legal drama. He was on the field during Wednesday's practice but did not participate in team drills. Foster stretched with his teammates and then did individual conditioning.
Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said after practice that Foster could have practiced, but there was no need.

Jimmy Garoppolo
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed a 40-yard pass to wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and led Aaron Burbridge on a touchdown during 7-on-7 drills but also underthrew Marquise Goodwin on a deep pass, reports Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group.

Offensive Line
Joshua Garnett received the majority of reps at right guard with the first-team offensive line but only after Mike Person began practice at the spot.
Defensive Line
Defensive end Cassius Marsh, who the 49ers hope can boost the pass rush in 2018, had a sack during 11-on-11 drills, reports team reporter Joe Fann.
Defensive tackle Sheldon Day intercepted a tipped pass at the line of scrimmage.
Defensive Backs
Defensive back Jimmie Ward had a rough practice. "Jimmie Ward got burned deep twice and gave up three touchdown catches in the red zone during today's practice," wrote Grant Cohn of the Press Democrat.
Did Not Practice
Wide receiver Trent Taylor was, once again, among the players who did not practice on Wednesday. He missed last week's open practice due to a back injury.
"His back's bothering him," head coach Kyle Shanahan said last Tuesday. "He went a little bit yesterday, and he just wasn't looking right, so we pulled him out. We didn't let him go today. It will be week-to-week."
Defensive back Chanceller James and linebackers Foster and Brock Coyle took part in individual drills but not the full practice. Defensive backs Don Jones and rookie Marcell Harris also have not yet practiced with the team, according to defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.
