Kyle Juszczyk, who is the only fullback on the San Francisco 49ers roster and missed Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, did not practice on Wednesday. The fullback missed all three days of practice last week and was among the inactive players on Sunday. He has been dealing with a back injury.
Rookie linebacker Reuben Foster practiced as he did last week, but was limited. Foster is attempting to return from a high-ankle sprain suffered in a game against the Carolina Panthers on September 10. While Foster returned to practice last week and participated in all three days, head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't feel he was healthy enough to play on Sunday and listed him as inactive. Shanahan is more "optimistic" that Foster will play on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
"I do expect him to (play)," Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday afternoon. "I guess I should use the words, 'I'm optimistic.' Maybe not 'expect.' I'm being more optimistic. I was hoping last week. Definitely wasn't as optimistic last week and more optimistic this week but you never know."
Tackle Joe Staley, wide receiver Pierre Garçon, and defensive end Elvis Dumervil were each given a veteran day off from practice.
Below are the official Wednesday practice participation reports for both the 49ers and the Cowboys, as provided by the 49ers Communications department.

They accomplished this by converting salary into a signing bonus and extending the cap implications through three void years.
Effectively, Juszczyk now has a two-year, $9.1 million deal, keeping him under contract through 2025, with the salary cap impact stretching until 2026.

49ers approach Kyle Juszczyk about salary reduction
Just hours after news broke that the San Francisco 49ers plan to release defensive tackle Arik Armstead as a salary-cap savings move, Adam Caplan of Pro Football Network revealed that the team has initiated discussions with long-serving fullback Kyle Juszczyk regarding a potential salary reduction.
"The San Francisco 49ers have approached fullback Kyle Juszczyk, an eight-time Pro Bowl (2016-2023) selection and first-team All-Pro last season, for a salary reduction for the 2024 season, a league source said," Caplan wrote. "Both sides have not reached an agreement on this issue, so his

Another change of heart: after agreeing to a deal with the 49ers, former Chargers and Vikings LB Eric Kendricks has decided to go to the Dallas Cowboys instead, per sources.
