Roster moves: 49ers waive CB Davontae Harris and RB Jacques Patrick

The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has waived two players, cornerback Davontae Harris and running back Jacques Patrick. Harris was activated from the team's injured reserve list on Monday. The 49ers signed Patrick off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad on September 21. The team announced no other moves. However, today, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that the Los Angeles Chargers signed offensive lineman Senio Kelemete off the 49ers practice squad. It's possible that the 49ers try to sign at least one of the waived players to the practice squad, assuming they clear

Deebo Samuel is the NFL's leading receiver through four weeks of play. He has 490 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns on 28 receptions, which puts him on pace for over 2,000 yards through 17 games. Now, a lot has to happen between now and the end of the season for Samuel to come anywhere close to that milestone. While Calvin Johnson was 36 yards shy of that mark in 2012, no one has reached it. Samuel would have to maintain his current pace and stay healthy to come close, even with the benefit of a 17-game season. Some wondered if San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Dee Ford would ever play an NFL snap again. Ford never questioned that. He started dealing with a back injury after Week 1 last season and never returned to the field in 2020. Most felt that any contributions from Ford this season would be a bonus for the 49ers. Ford has played in all four games this season and racked up three sacks in the process. Two of those came this past weekend against the Seattle Seahawks. The San Francisco 49ers are signing kicker Joey Slye, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. He will replace Robbie Gould, who is expected to miss three to five weeks due to a groin injury.
