49ers interested in Ravens FB Kyle Juszczyk

Mar 8, 2017 at 9:31 AM--

According to Tom Pelissero‏ of USA TODAY Sports, the San Francisco 49ers are among the teams showing interest in Baltimore Ravens FB Kyle Juszczyk.

The 49ers didn't have a fullback on the roster last season. Bruce Miller was the team's fullback the previous season and was trying to convert to a tight end in Chip Kelly's offense, but legal problems led the 49ers to release Miller a week prior to the start of the regular season.

Juszczyk, who turns 26 in April, was a fourth-round selection out of Harvard by Baltimore in the 2013 NFL Draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl last season and was a 2016 First-Team All-Pro.

The San Francisco 49ers shocked the NFL world on March 26 when they traded a haul of draft picks to move up to the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. It got everyone talking and speculating. Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson was going through his pro day when the news broke. General manager John Lynch was in attendance, and the story seemed to overshadow the workout of the player widely expected to go No. 2 overall. While everyone immediately assumed the 49ers' blockbuster move was for their quarterback of the future, which was confirmed by Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan three days later, one confident top prospect wasn't so sure. Former NFL quarterback turned private coach John Beck joined KNBR on Thursday. He worked with Kyle Shanahan in Washington when the San Francisco 49ers head coach was the offensive coordinator there. The two remain close. Beck has worked this offseason with two of the three prospects — Justin Fields of Ohio State and Trey Lance of North Dakota State — that are the betting favorites to be the No. 3 pick by the Niners. Mac Jones of Alabama has the best odds, followed by the other two. Beck has also worked at length with Zach Wilson of BYU, who is expected to go to the New York Jets at No. 2. Everyone is trying to figure out Shanahan's thinking and predict who will be the 49ers' first selection. After all, the team traded a haul of draft picks, including

Field Yates of ESPN reported today that the San Francisco 49ers have finalized their decision on who to draft at No. 3 overall. "I'm told the work is done in Santa Clara," said Yates. "They have wrapped up their draft meetings officially. They're ready to make this pick, but it's in the hands of Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch." San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan may be leaning toward Mac Jones of Alabama with the No 3 overall pick. The former Crimson Tide quarterback may have been the target when the Niners traded up nine spots last month. Other than a brief weeklong drop to the No. 2 spot, Jones has been the betting favorite for much of the time since the blockbuster trade. Did San Francisco surrender multiple future draft picks, including first-rounders, for Jones? ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay hears that Jones remains the favorite in Shanahan's mind. On Sunday night, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the 49ers' decision had been narrowed down to two prospects — Jones and Trey Lance of North Dakota State. It sounds like Justin Fields of Ohio State
