49ers interested in Ravens FB Kyle Juszczyk

Mar 8, 2017 at 9:31 AM--

According to Tom Pelissero‏ of USA TODAY Sports, the San Francisco 49ers are among the teams showing interest in Baltimore Ravens FB Kyle Juszczyk.

The 49ers didn't have a fullback on the roster last season. Bruce Miller was the team's fullback the previous season and was trying to convert to a tight end in Chip Kelly's offense, but legal problems led the 49ers to release Miller a week prior to the start of the regular season.

Juszczyk, who turns 26 in April, was a fourth-round selection out of Harvard by Baltimore in the 2013 NFL Draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl last season and was a 2016 First-Team All-Pro.

One of the biggest debates since the San Francisco 49ers' Week 2 win over the Seattle Seahawks has been head coach Kyle Shanahan's use of Trey Lance. Many feel that the excessive use of quarterback runs unnecessarily put the second-year player in harm's way. Lance ended up suffering a season-ending ankle injury in the first quarter. During an interview on 95.7 The Game, fullback Kyle Juszczyk defended his head coach. He doesn't understand the criticism directed in Shanahan's direction, and the growing lack of trust from a very vocal segment of the fanbase. "I think he deserves that trust, and he's built that reputation to have that trust," Juszczyk told Damon Bruce and Ray Ratto. "He's had so much success in the decisions that he has made here that I think he's

The transition from Trey Lance back to Jimmy Garoppolo has not been difficult for the San Francisco 49ers. Teammates are familiar with Garoppolo, who had been the Niners' starting quarterback since the final handful of games of the 2017 season. Garoppolo returned this season in a backup role. However, lance's season-ending injury (head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed today that it was indeed season-ending) has thrust the veteran quarterback back into the starting lineup. A reporter asked one 49ers player about the transition from Lance to Garoppolo. "I just want to start with I don't want to

The San Francisco 49ers will host the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium on Sunday. The division matchup is the home opener for Kyle Shanahan and his team, and the head coach is looking forward to the fans making an impact after a disappointing Week 1 road outing against the Chicago Bears. "[There's definitely a different energy] when you are at home," Shanahan said after Friday's practice, the last of the week before Sunday's game. "I think the advantage on the road, I always talk to our players, there's an advantage with concentration and stuff on the road. When you get on a plane, usually right now, you're there, you don't have family in town, things like that. So those are the only reasons you like being on the road."
