Today, Koetter was asked about the interaction he had with the 49ers organization. He didn't really seem to want to go into details about it. "I appreciate the question, but none of that matters at this point," Koetter said. "It doesn't do any good for me to talk about that. I'm the coach of the Bucs and Chip's the coach of the 49ers. Everything works out for a reason, the way it's supposed to work out."
Koetter interviewed with the 49ers on January 9, two days after the 49ers interviewed Kelly for the head coach job. While Koetter had reportedly impressed 49ers management during his interview, the 49ers hired Kelly on January 14.
Koetter's 2-3 Buccaneers face Kelly's 1-5 49ers on Sunday, October 23.
