Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY pointed out the following about Kaepernick's new contract via Twitter.
- Kaepernick's cap hit for 2016 has jumped from $15.89 million to $20.23 million. That's not a big deal for the 49ers, who have plenty of cap space.
- 34.4-percent playing time will trigger a $1 million bonus.
- Kaepernick can void the final remaining year of the deal with notice on or before the 2nd day prior to the 2017 league year in March.
On Tuesday, Kaepernick was announced as the team's new starting quarterback. On Wednesday, he officially signed the restructured deal that eliminates the future guarantees in salary should the quarterback suffer a serious injury.
For Kaepernick, it allows him to void 2017 and become a free agent in March.
