"We've got confidence in Blaine and I think he's done some really nice things for us," said Kelly during the press conference.
Kelly was asked if Gabbert was the team's starter for the duration of the season or just their current starter. "He's our starter and I've got a lot of confidence in Blaine so we're not thinking or talking about not having Blaine in there," Kelly answered. "It's about everybody on offense playing better right now."
Through the two games to open the season, Gabbert's play has been erratic. He has some plays where he delivers the ball on target and others where the ball is uncatchable.
Despite being offered relatively good protection, Gabbert recorded yet another poor outing in Week 2," said John Breitenbach of Pro Football Focus following Sunday's loss. "He completed only five of 16 attempts beyond 10 yards, with two picks. Gabbert was highly erratic in the short range, as well, managing an adjusted completion percentage of only 61.8 overall."
A full transcript of what Kelly had to say will be made available later today.
