"It's great to be back out there," said Kaepernick. "It's great to be back practicing with my teammates, getting ready for this next game."
Kaepernick returned to practicing fully with his teammates this week. He had been dealing with a muscle issue in his throwing shoulder since August 10, which was also the last time he had practiced fully. Kaepernick was asked about his shoulder and if there have been any issues with it.
"Yeah, everything's been going great," said Kaepernick. "Everything's been going as planned so excited to get out there this Friday."
"When I go out there though, I'll be ready to compete and to compete as long as (head coach Chip Kelly) lets me," said Kaepernick when asked about how much action he would like to see on Friday if he gets to play.
Kaepernick was asked if he still believes that he has a fair shot to win the quarterback competition. "Yeah, most definitely," he said. "I mean, I'm going to go out, show everything I can these next two games and make sure I put my best foot forward to show this organization, this team, this coaching staff what I'm capable of."
Kaepernick went on to say that he is still working to get his tinted visor approved by the league. However, it is his understanding that he will be able to use it in Friday's preseason game if he plays.
He was asked if the team treated his injury fairly. "Once again, I'm not getting into all of the specifics or anything like that," answered Kaepernick. "We're focusing on football and my focus right now is this game on Friday."
When asked to characterize the conversation that he had with general manager Trent Baalke, Kaepernick simply stated, "It was a conversation." Baalke had previously described it as a "good conversation." In regards to his relationship with his general manager, Kaepernick said, "We have a business relationship. That's the point where we're at."
