Colin Kaepernick will be limited
Colin Kaepernick will be limited during practice due to "arm fatigue" and a sore throwing shoulder. Kelly hopes that he will be available to play on Sunday during the team's exhibition opener against the Texans. "We're going to keep a good eye on him today," said Kelly.

Kelly went on to say that yesterday's planned day of rest for Kaepernick was just to help get his arm back up to where they can use him every day. Kaepernick was recovering from multiple surgeries during the majority of the team's offseason program. No MRI will be necessary.
Kelly went on to say that Kaepernick did not really miss a step during his missed practice time earlier in the offseason. He worked hard and studied hard to make sure he was up to speed. "There's timing issues and things like that that you'll miss because you're not getting the physical aspect of it, but from a mental aspect, he's been on top of it," said Kelly.
Practice with the Texans
Everything is scripted out for the 49ers joint-practice with the Texans. All of the coordinators have discussed what they need to look for within the script. "There's a lot cooperation that goes on in these types of practices," said Kelly.
Kelly stated that he loves these joint-practices, stating that they already had one planned with the Denver Broncos. Then when the preseason schedule was released, they organized the one with the Texans.
Regarding tempo, Kelly stated that there will be huddle portions and no-huddle portions of today's practice.
Blaine Gabbert
Blaine Gabbert has done a great job learning the terminology of Chip Kelly's offense. Kelly stated that he has been through a lot of systems and that has certainly helped him adapt. "The one thing about Blaine that has stood out is his intelligence," said Kelly.
