San Francisco 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert, who will enter a competition with Colin Kaepernick for the starting job when the team practices for the first time on Sunday, is doing his part to get the offense ready. According to WR Torrey Smith, Gabbert reportedly organized an unofficial throwing session with about six receivers just a few days ago.


Gabbert, who many within the media feel is the frontrunner for the starting quarterback job in San Francisco, is entering his sixth season in the league and his third with the 49ers. Smith is entering his first as the team's number one receiver. It was a role that once belonged to Anquan Boldin, who is now with the Detroit Lions.
