Boone was asked what he thought of US Bank Stadium, the new $1.06 billion stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota that will be home of Super Bowl LII and where the Vikings will start playing during the 2016 season. "It's gorgeous. It's beautiful. This is where football should be played," said Boone.
"Levi's was great, but I think this place blows it away. I mean, just the structural element, the atmosphere that it's going to bring, it going to be outrageous," Boone said when asked to compare it to his former home, Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
Levi's Stadium officially opened on July 17, 2014 and cost an estimated $2 billion.
Boone even chimed in on his former team's quarterback competition. "I think, to be honest, that Blaine [Gabbert] did a great job last year. And from what I know of Blaine, I think he's going to take the reins," Boone said. "I mean I think he's a good guy, he knows what he's doing out there and he just has the support of the group. So I think that's something to look forward to."
Boone signed a four-year, $26.8 million contract with Minnesota in March. The contract included $10 million guaranteed. His replacement at left guard will be the Zane Beadles, who signed with San Francisco for three years and $9.75 million.
