At the NFL Scouting Combine in February, the 5-foot10 and 215-pound Dixon had a 40-time of 4.58 seconds, a vertical jump of 37.5 inches, a broad jump of 121 inches, completed the three cone drill in 6.97 seconds, had 18 reps in the bench press, a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.28 seconds, and a 60-yard shuttle time of 11.50 seconds. Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Dixon to Thomas Rawls, had the following to say in his scouting report:
Highly determined runner with a strong desire to compete through the whistle on every snap. Dixon possesses outstanding feet with exciting suddenness in his change of direction, but he's very willing to finish his runs with authority and has a knack for finding the endzone. Dixon has all the traits of being a quality, three-down starter in the NFL but his frame and suspect pass protection could be long-term concerns.
Other running backs on the roster include Carlos Hyde, Shaun Draughn, Jarryd Hayne, Mike Davis, Kendall Gaskins, and DeJuan Harris.
