With Brock Osweiler headed to the Houston Texans on a 4-year, $72 million deal and Peyton Manning having retired, the Denver Broncos are left without a starting quarterback. According to Benjamin Allbright, the Broncos have inquired about possibility of acquiring QB Colin Kaepernick from the San Francisco 49ers.

Kaepernick was said to be the Broncos' backup plan should the team lose Osweiler. Another quarterback that may be in play for them is Robert Griffin III.

In November, Kaepernick was benched for QB Blaine Gabbert. He was then placed on injured reserve when a shoulder injury came into light. Kaepernick is recovering from multiple surgeries. While none are expected to be long-term issues, he has had surgeries on his left shoulder, thumb, and knee since being placed on injured reserve.

Kaepernick is not far from Denver. He is currently recovering from his surgeries at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
