Dial was entering the final year of his initial rookie four-year contract. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2017.
"Throughout his first three seasons in the NFL, Quinton has shown consistent development and has become a key contributor in our defense," said 49ers general manager Trent Baalke according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. "We are pleased to extend the contract of young players like Quinton and are excited to see him continue his career with the 49ers."
Dial, who was taken in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Alabama, has 90 tackles and 4.5 sacks over his career. In August of 2013, Dial was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list but played in three games making one tackle. In 2014, he played in 14 games making 30 tackles with two sacks and a pass defended. In 2015, he started 15 games and had 59 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one pass defended.
On Tuesday, the 49ers gave TE Garrett Celek a four-year contract extension worth $14 million with $5 million guaranteed.
