Another report from Bay Area Sports Guy stated that, according to sources, there was a significant divide within the 49ers locker room that originated from the resulting tensions of a rumored love triangle between Kaepernick, former 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith, and Hot 97 host Nessa.
Today, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reported about a tense players-only meeting with Kaepernick as the topic of discussion.
During the rough stretch about four weeks ago, there was a tense players-only meeting in which one teammate called out Kaepernick, sources told CSNBayArea.com. Another player quickly stepped up in a show of support and the exchange became heated. In the days that followed, the individuals involved got together and cleared up their differences, according to a source.
There were no names in the report, but several players like WR Anquan Boldin have stepped up to defend their quarterback.
The 49ers must put distractions aside and move forward in what may already be a lost season. At 2-5, they sit alone at the bottom of the NFC West standings. This week, the 49ers are preparing for a division game against the Rams in St. Louis.
