"We're going to monitor Carlos," said Tomsula. Hyde is recovering from a sore foot.
WR Bruce Ellington has missed some time this season due to injury, but briefly played during Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. When asked if injuries are contributing to his limited play, Tomsula said, "We're just trying to get Bruce healthy." He went on to say that they are trying to get Ellington to 100 percent.
Ellington had two receptions for 39 yards against the Giants. Both receptions came during the 49ers' opening drive.
Tomsula said that RB Jarryd Hayne is improving daily. He had nine yards on two carries against the Giants.
When asked about C Daniel Kilgore, Tomsula said, "My weekly updates on him are that he is progressing really well." While there is currently no timetable for his return, he is eligible to return following Sunday's game. However, it is unlikely that the team would rush him back on a short week. The 49ers will host the Seattle Seahawks on the following Thursday.
Tomsula also stated that he is hearing good reports on the improvement of WR DeAndre Smelter, a fourth-round draft pick by the 49ers who is attempting to return from a torn ACL suffered in November of 2014 while with Georgia Tech. He is also eligible to return next week.
Another player that will become available next week is WR Jerome Simpson, who will be done serving his six-game suspension for violating the league's policy and program for substances of abuse.
