The 49ers traded away C Nick Easton and a 6th round draft selection. On September 5, the team had acquired Easton from the Baltimore Ravens for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2016 draft.
Hodges was drafted out of Penn State by the Vikings in the 4th round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He has 71 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and an interception during his time in Minnesota. He had played in four games this season, starting three.
Prior to the draft, NFL.com graded Hodges at 72/100, listing him as a second or third round pick. They felt that he would eventually be a starter in the NFL and compared him to former linebacker Quincy Black of the Buccaneers.
Hodges, who is 24 years old, is 6-2 and 236 lbs.
