The 49ers would finally score on a Kaepernick run for 12 yards just before the first half's two-minute warning, but by this point, the Cardinals had already scored two more times and led 28-7 on their way to a 47-7 victory.
Kaepernick would end the day with four interceptions, the first four-interception game of his career. He is the first 49ers quarterback to throw four picks in a game since Trent Dilfer did so in a road game against the Carolina Panthers in 2007. Mathieu would end the day with two while CB Jerraud Powers would get one of his own.
TE Vernon Davis left the game with a knee injury. He did not go into the locker room and remained on the sideline for the remainder of the game.
Kaepernick ended the game 9 of 19 for 67 yards and 4 interceptions while Cardinals QB Carson Palmer ended 20 of 32 for 311 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
There will be a lot of discussion this week on which direction the struggling 49ers will have to take as they return home and prepare to face the Green Bay Packers at Levi's Stadium on Sunday, October 4. Kickoff is at 1:25 PM PT.
The Cardinals improve to 3-0 on the season while the 49ers drop to 1-2.
