Bush was selected by the New Orleans Saints with the second overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He has since played for the Saints, Dolphins, Lions and now will continue his career with the 49ers.
Bush visited with the 49ers on Wednesday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. General manager Trent Baalke spoke highly of the visit.
He will join running backs Carlos Hyde and Kendall Hunter in San Francisco as the trio will attempt to replace the departure of Frank Gore, who signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
Bush has rushed for 5,465 yards on 1,266 carries with 35 rushing touchdowns. He has also added 3,489 receiving yards and 18 receiving touchdowns over his career.
You might remember that the 49ers played the Houston Texans in the final game of the 2005 season. That game was labeled the Bush Bowl, with the loser having the chance to land Bush in the 2006 NFL Draft. The 49ers beat the Texans 20-17 in overtime. The Texans would go on to draft Mario Williams instead.
