Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has already stated that he would not follow Harbaugh and the team would likely want to keep him on staff. In fact, he, along with defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, are believed to be strong internal candidates for the head coaching position.
It seems unlikely that the team would retain offensive coordinator Greg Roman, but little has been discussed about that.
Harbaugh is believed to be returning to his alma mater at the University of Michigan to take over their vacant head coaching position. They reportedly offered him a 6-year, $48 million deal and Michigan officials reportedly flew in on Sunday to meet with Harbaugh.
The head coach needy Oakland Raiders were rumored to be making a strong late push to acquire Harbaugh, but for whatever reason, according to local Bay Area media, those rumors quickly fizzled.
