Chris Biderman, the Editor in Chief of Niners Digest, is reporting that San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman did not travel back with the team after their victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. He remained behind in order to interview for a head coaching position.
Green Bay is just four hours from Minneapolis, the home of the Minnesota Vikings. While there is no official word that the Vikings are the team that he is visiting with, they seem like the logical choice since they have reportedly shown interest in Roman.
The 49ers are preparing for a playoff matchup with the Carolina Panthers in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs. The two teams go head-to-head on Sunday, January 12.
The other team that has shown interest in Roman is the Washington Redskins. On Monday, Jim Harbaugh confirmed that teams had contacted the 49ers for permission to interview offensive coordinator Greg Roman, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, and others from the coaching staff.
