With the Kansas City Chiefs' 23-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns, they improved their record to 8-0 and remain the only undefeated team in the NFL. By reaching their 8th victory of the season, the San Francisco 49ers gain a better draft selection.
In April, the 49ers traded quarterback Alex Smith to the Chiefs for two draft picks. The first was a second-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, which the 49ers used to select defensive tackle Tank Carradine. The second was a conditional selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. If the Chiefs won less than 8 games in 2013, that selection would have been a third-round pick. Because they have now won 8 or more games, that third-round selection becomes a second round pick in 2014.
