The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have waived linebacker Darius Fleming and signed linebacker Travis Johnson to a three-year deal.
During a non-contact kickoff coverage drill during Sunday's practice, Fleming injured the same knee that he had previously torn an ACL. Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area is reporting that Fleming has once again torn his ACL. He was drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Johnson, 22, an undrafted free agent, played at San Jose State. During his senior year, he had 65 tackles, a career high 13 sacks, 3 Forced fumbles, 2 Pass deflections and was the WAC Defensive Player of the Year. 21.5 of the tackles were for a loss. He ended his college career with 218 Tackles, 32 Sacks, 3 Forced fumbles and 2 Pass deflections.
