Turner looks comfortable

Kevin Lynch, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Norv Turner appears to be comfortable in his new role. A revitalized Turner will try to lift the 49ers' offense, ranked 32nd last season, beginning July 27, when the team reports to Santa Clara for training camp. He got a good start during the 49ers' three weeks of organized team activities in June. Often, Turner's voice rang above all others during team scrimmages. "I don't remember Norv being that vocal," said 49ers head coach Mike Nolan, who was Turner's defensive coordinator from 1997 through 1999, when Turner coached the Washington Redskins. Turner is looking forward to coaxing the young 49ers. "They are a fun group to be around," Turner said. "The one thing I like about them is that they are real sharp." He has already impressed 49ers players with what's known as the "digital" offense, which he helped create. Unlike the West Coast offense, in which pass routes have names, the digital offense's pass routes are based on a numerical system.
