Woodson was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the fourth overall selection in the 1998 NFL Draft. He spent eight seasons with the Raiders before heading to the Green Bay Packers for seven years. Last season, he had 38 tackles, 1.5 sacks and an interception for Green Bay while playing the safety position for half the season. He was injured half of the season with a broken collarbone.
In 2009, Woodson was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
With the likely departure of Dashon Goldson, the 49ers have been rumored to have interest in a number of safeties including Ed Reed and LaRon Landry.
