Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the San Francisco 49ers are one of three teams interested in New York Jets free agent safety LaRon Landry. The other teams include the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Landry, who is 28 years old, was drafted in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, where he spend five seasons. Last season, he was with the New York Jets, where he recorded 100 tackles, 2 interceptions and a touchdown.
The San Francisco 49ers are expected to lose free agent safety Dashon Goldson and are looking elsewhere to improve the defensive backfield. The team is expected to target both corners and safeties. They are already rumored to be interested in Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed and Miami Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith.
