SF49ers.com reports San Francisco 49ers S Tony Parrish (leg) could return to practice as early as next week after breaking his leg last season. "He looked good running up and down the sideline," said head coach Mike Nolan. "It's a possibility. We'll certainly be talking about it next week."
Hill signing could push Pickett to a new position
Kevin Lynch, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports the signing of QB Shaun Hill by the San Francisco 49ers may force 49ers' QB Cody Pickett to a different position. Last year, he dabbled as a coverage man on punts and kickoffs and did well as a receiver on the scout team in practice. Coaches have discussed moving Pickett to receiver. "I want to be here," Pickett said. "If they want me to play receiver, I'll do it." So far in the OTAs, Pickett mainly has played quarterback. But when training camp begins, he might be splitting time between receiver and quarterback.
Torrey not at practice yet
Roger Phillips, of the Oakland Tribune, reports newly added San Francisco 49ers LB Andre Torrey was not at practice Monday, June 5.
Adams and Williams to compete for a starting spot
SF49ers.com reports San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan said he expects S Mike Adams and S Chad Williams to compete for a starting safety spot, once injured S Tony Parrish returns. "Chad Williams is a good addition," said Nolan. "Without a question in my mind, he fits in to the picture with us defensively, not only because of his safety ability because of his third down ability. He's been a very effective player the last few years in the NFL. He's doing a good job."
Battle expected back Tuesday
SF49ers.com reports San Francisco 49ers WR Arnaz Battle (knee) is expected to return to practice Tuesday, June 6, according to head coach Mike Nolan. Battle missed practice Monday, June 5, due to swelling in his knee. "I had another MRI done and there are no problems structurally or anything," said Battle. "My knee is still stable but I had some swelling in there because of the workload. It's frustrating not to be out there taking reps but I don't expect it to be a lingering problem."
