San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans continues to miss practice while dealing with Achilles tendinitis. On Thursday morning, general manager John Lynch said Evans is unlikely to play this weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders as the 49ers look to avoid a second straight loss.

Following Thursday's practice, head coach Kyle Shanahan joined Bay Area radio station KNBR and expressed confidence that Evans' injury is not a long-term concern.

Shanahan emphasized that he is not a medical expert and acknowledged that Achilles tendinitis can be difficult to assess when determining a recovery timeline.

"It's what they say—Achilles flare up," Shanahan said. "Sherm (former NFL CB Richard Sherman) had one when we were here. He had an issue with it, but I don't think he missed much time. [RB] Christian [McCaffrey] had one, and I think it flared up more and affected him longer.

"Mike's had this before in the past, and it hasn't affected him too long, and I think he's going through it now. So, I'm not overly worried about that and stuff. Just patiently waiting for him to get better and heal all up, and I think it'll get there sooner than later."

Evans has appeared in six games for the 49ers this season, his first with San Francisco after spending 12 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has recorded 27 receptions for 420 yards (15.6 yards per catch) and three touchdowns in 2026.

The 49ers enter Week 9 with a 6-1 record and hold first place in the NFC West. They'll look to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they host their former Bay Area rivals, the Raiders, on Sunday.
