San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has earned plenty of praise for his performance this season. Despite a subpar outing against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7, Purdy has completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 1,748 yards, 15 touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 110.1 passer rating through seven games.

The last overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft is now in his fifth NFL season and has firmly established himself as the 49ers' franchise quarterback. The organization has tremendous confidence in the 26-year-old, who has seemingly mastered head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense.

General manager John Lynch recently explained to NBC Sports Bay Area that learning Shanahan's system isn't always easy for quarterbacks. However, Purdy possesses several elite traits that make him an ideal fit for the 49ers' head coach.

"You have to be able to retain and take in a ton of information," Lynch explained. "You watch us do all those motions—Brock's handling that. He's the orchestrator, and I don't think people understand how much information [that involves]. He's got an ability to do that.

"Kyle is demanding, and Brock can take that without taking it personally, and I think that's really important. That may be one of his greatest qualities as to why he thrives with Kyle.

"And then, he's extremely talented. You see him, the way he goes and extends plays. He's done it in each and every game, aside from being able to stay in the pocket and progress."

Purdy has also appeared more aggressive this season, playing with another level of confidence. That approach has produced impressive results. According to Pro Football Focus, Purdy owns a 94.5 passing grade on throws traveling at least 20 yards downfield.

Lynch also believes Purdy has an exceptional ability to recognize areas of his game that need improvement and make the necessary adjustments to elevate his performance.

"He's competitive. He always finds a way to get better," Lynch continued. "I think, this year, he kind of took it personally that people are saying he's a layer thrower. I'm seeing him come out with shoulder turn and driving the ball this year.

"I think that's what the great ones do. They identify things they want to work on, and they get it done. I could talk about Brock all day long, and I'm probably going too long, but he's easy to do that with."
