Remarkably, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has yet to be sacked through the first four games of the 2026 NFL season. On Sunday, the 49ers' offensive line faces a significant challenge against the Seattle Seahawks as it looks to extend that streak.

However, one NFL Media contributor believes Purdy's sack-free run is about to end. NFL.com editor Gennaro Filice is predicting a "Seattle sack party" when the 49ers visit Lumen Field for their Week 5 matchup.

"Purdy's off to an MVP-caliber start, having thrown an NFL-high 11 touchdown passes against just one interception (a pick that came on his third drive of the season)," Filice wrote. "The quarterback is confidently dealing like a man without a care in the world -- which makes sense, considering the impenetrable fortress surrounding him in 2026."

The 49ers are the only NFL team that has yet to allow a sack this season. To put that achievement into perspective, the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, and Washington Commanders have allowed the next-fewest sacks, with five apiece.

Filice doesn't just expect Purdy's sack-free streak to end in Week 5. He also predicts the 49ers will suffer their first loss of the season.

"But the dam breaks in San Francisco's first true road game of the season," Filice added. "Boasting the league's fourth-highest pressure rate at 43.0%, Seattle has a posse of pass rushers to rattle Purdy's cage. With the 12s cranking up the volume for this rivalry bout at Lumen Field, Purdy takes four sacks from four different Seahawks. And the Niners suffer their first loss."

Head coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged that the 49ers' ability to keep Purdy upright through four games is impressive, but he knows the streak won't last forever.

"The whole thing of not getting any sacks for four games, that's a really good stat, but it's one that is eventually going to be broken," Shanahan said Thursday during a radio interview. "I try not to look into that too much. I hope we keep scoring points and moving the ball.

"A sack's going to happen, but those guys (the offensive line) get a ton of credit for the fact that they have been able to do it this long, and so do the other six guys on the field too with them."

The 49ers will look to prove Filice wrong by keeping Purdy upright and extending their unbeaten start.
