Inactives:
- LB Tatum Bethune
- OL Enrique Cruz
- RB Jordan James
- CB Ephesians Prysock
- QB Kurtis Rourke
- WR Jordan Watkins
On Wednesday night, the 49ers ruled out only one player: defensive tackle Alfred Collins, who suffered a season-ending patellar tendon tear during practice earlier in the week. The team placed him on injured reserve ahead of kickoff.
Defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. was the only player listed as questionable as he works through a hamstring injury. He is active for the game.
Tight end George Kittle and defensive end Nick Bosa were absent from Wednesday's injury designations, indicating they were expected to play against the Rams. Neither player is among the 49ers' inactive players for the game, and appear set to join their teammates on the field for Week 1.
Kittle is returning from an Achilles injury suffered in January, while Bosa is returning from the torn ACL that limited him to three games last season.
Running back Jordan James being inactive means that rookie Kaelon Black will serve as Christian McCaffrey's backup.
Ahead of kickoff, the 49ers announced two roster moves, elevating wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge and defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo from the practice squad and making both players available against the Rams.
