The San Francisco 49ers kicked off their second full practice of the week on Tuesday as they prepare for their Week 1 showdown with the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia.

There was plenty of good news for those concerned about the injuries that have plagued the 49ers throughout training camp. Tuesday morning's practice (Monday night in the United States) featured nearly a full participation list.

The lone player who appeared to be absent was rookie defensive tackle James Thompson Jr., who is dealing with a hamstring strain.

Defensive end Nick Bosa and running back Christian McCaffrey did not participate in the 49ers' first full practice of the week but returned to the field for the second. San Francisco appears to be managing both veterans carefully, with the goal of keeping them healthy and fresh throughout the 2026 season.

When asked if the 49ers expect Bosa to play this week, defensive coordinator Raheem Morris said, "He's going out there. Whatever you want to say, he's going. He'll be there. We're not hiding that."

Tight end George Kittle continues to practice and appears to be on track to play in Week 1 after recovering from an Achilles injury. Wide receiver Mike Evans and cornerback Renardo Green also continued to practice.

The encouraging participation report comes at an important time for the 49ers, who face the challenging task of opening the season against a talented Rams team nearly 7,900 miles from home.

With several key players working their way back from injuries, a healthy practice week is a major boost for San Francisco ahead of the NFC West showdown at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
