San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has missed several training camp practices due to soreness and tendinitis in his surgically repaired knee. The pass rusher was limited to just three games last season after suffering a torn ACL, but was medically cleared at the start of training camp.

While the 49ers fan base has expressed concern over the setback, Bosa believes he remains on track to play when the team travels to Melbourne, Australia, for its Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.


Bosa told Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group that he feels "solid," noting that a four-week cushion gives him time to ramp up for the international contest. The defensive end also made it clear that he was happy the 49ers' schedule includes three home games following the season opener.


Inman noted that Bosa did not wear a brace or support sleeve over his knee on Thursday night when the 49ers hosted the Tennessee Titans in their preseason opener. Bosa was among the several players who did not suit up for the game.

Earlier this week, head coach Kyle Shanahan said he is not concerned about the soreness and tendinitis in Bosa's knee.

"It's a pretty normal thing with ACLs," Shanahan said. "... It's a normal thing, and that's why we've got to be smart here for week to week. But I'm feeling no concerns about him being any more than that."

Despite the recent setback, Bosa appears to be on track to return for the start of the 2026 season. His latest update should provide some reassurance to 49ers fans who have been concerned about the star defensive end's recovery from his torn ACL.
