However, it doesn't sound like the 49ers are overly concerned.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters after Tuesday's practice and provided updates on Bosa and McCaffrey.
Bosa is dealing with soreness and a little tendinitis, which Shanahan said is a normal part of the process for a player returning from an ACL injury.
"Just soreness, tendinitis," Shanahan said. "It's a pretty normal thing with ACLs ... It's a normal thing, and that's why we've got to be smart here for week to week. But I'm feeling no concerns about him being any more than that."
Shanahan was also asked if he had any concerns about McCaffrey's recent setback lingering for longer than expected.
"No," Shanahan responded. "My concern would be him toughing through tightness, like a lot of people do, and then hurting something bad, and then pulling something, which then, it could be a month. That would be our concern, so once we hear him talking a certain way, Christian's a guy who needs to get prepared for Week 1.
"But also, we're pretty confident in what he's done before, we're confident in what he's done these two weeks, and we just want to make sure we don't make it something to be concerned about."
Based on Shanahan's comments, the 49ers expect both Bosa and McCaffrey to be ready for Week 1, when San Francisco travels to Melbourne, Australia, to face the Los Angeles Rams.
For now, the 49ers appear to be taking a cautious approach with two of their most important players rather than risking a more serious injury during training camp.
